Prepping for bed one rainy evening not long ago, my YouTube cravings were on overtime. YouTube’s algorithms obviously bring up your favorite video or related subjects from the night before, watching an impromptu episode of an old school Soprano’s video my fiancé loves so much, and a quick dose of Goodfellas, my screen popped up a familiar fellow, who in his day, back ions ago, was one of the most notorious mafiosos bad guys in the business. So, Sammy “The Bull” Gravano is now doing YouTube videos? Bringing myself to click on this, curiosity got the best , Gravano, tells a story of some guys who were cheating at cards at one of his clubs in 1980’s New York City. They ultimately were caught and threatened to be “whacked” or basically murdered, and so rightly, for stupidity if nothing else, only to be let go by Gravano and his henchmen after scared half to death and show Gravano their unique card dealing technique, but who the hell would go into a mafia hangout club and try to cheat at cards? Gravano has a mesmerizing voice of your grandfather telling you a bedtime story, only it is about he and his “associates” committing crimes such as murder, extortion, theft and sometimes throwing in a human-interest story that makes him sound sort of like the mob’s version of Mother Teresa.
Having to admit, Sammy is entertaining and does have quite a following of over 400K subscribers and most of his videos and podcast getting 100K hits. His stories seem genuine, my grandfather was more in that generation, and admitted knowing Sammy, and that even though he turned Fed on Gotti, and was considered a rat by many in the 90’s, was a straight up guy, and maybe too smart for the mafia. He owned and operated many construction businesses and night clubs in and around New York City. Now, consider Michael Franzese, being a one-time Columbo family made man, Gravano was a Gambino made man, and WOW, these two claims not to know one another or never crossed path? Franzese also has a very successful YouTube channel with over 500K subscribers and over 100 videos. Seems every swinging d**k who has ever seen the Godfather or Goodfellas has a YouTube video trying to move in on the action. If this was Brooklynn or Bronx territory, these mobster wannabees would have to answer to Gravano or Franzese, but this is YouTube, everyone and anyone with a keyboard is badass. Take note my friends, these two are the real deal when it comes to organized crime old school, don’t let their demeanor or awe shucks fool you. If you listen very closely, they seem to be trying to make a right by all their wrongs by explaining how many bad people they were around growing up or working with back in the day. They are definitely survivors to say the least.-Barbie.
